Water Pollution Control
- Primary Treatment Section
The Process Effluents from Phenol and Hydrogen peroxide plants are treated in the Primary treatment section (in built facility with process plants) before being discharged to Secondary treatment facility (Effluent Treatment Plant)
- Effluent Treatment Plant
The Effluents from different plants are segregated and collected in tanks. The combined effluent is treated by Physical, Chemical and Biological methods. The Treated Effluent conforms to Kerala State Pollution Control Board's specification is only discharged from the factory. Critical parameters were monitored and controlled at each stages of the process with aid of online instruments for the better operation and control of the process. The final discharge of Treated Effluent is also monitored online for critical parameters like pH, BOD, COD and TSS.
Air Pollution Control Measures
- A Flare Stack with continuous pilot flame is taking care of any emission of gaseous Hydrocarbon relief from the plants.
- Floating Roof Tanks are used to store Benzene to minimize the vapour emissions to atmosphere
- Chilled Water Condensers are provided at Acetone Storage Tank's vents to minimize vapour emissions to atmosphere.
- Chilled Water Scrubber and Activated Carbon Adsorbers are used for minimizing Hydrocarbon emission to atmosphere
- Low Sulphur fuel is used to reduce SO2 emissions in flue gas.
Process Waste Management
- Wastes generated from Process are collected, treated and disposed off strictly complying with statutory requirements.
Monitoring System
- Hydrocarbon detectors are provided at strategic locations of the plant for early detection of Hydrocarbon leaks.
- Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems are installed in the stack to monitor CO, NOx & SO2 in the flue gas emissions.
- Ambient Air Quality is monitored at frequent intervals to closely monitor the Environment.
